Some bookings may require a £10 per head pre-authorisation payment, to secure the booking. No money is taken from your account with a pre-authorisation; money will only be claimed if your entire group fails to show for the reservation.

We have do not have an on-site car park at The Pontcanna. There is limited on-street parking available nearby on the roads near the pub. The nearest car park is Sophia Gardens Pay & Display which is about a 3 minute walk from the venue.

Children are welcome in the pub until 10pm. All children should be accompanied by an adult.

Roath Park
One of Cardiff’s most popular parks, the stunning Roath Park offers beautiful views both during the day and night and boasts a number of glorious gardens to admire and roam through.

Cardiff Bay is home to a number of great attractions including the Cardiff bay Wetland Reserve, Cardiff Bay Water Activity Centre and Cardiff International White Water. Tour the picturesque waterfront of Cardiff Bay and enjoy an array of boutiques, bars and restaurants, along with the incredible Millennium Centre; the nation’s home of performing arts. Admire the picture-perfect Red Castle which proudly sits overlooking Cardiff and the bay.

St Fagans
Visit the stunning St Fagans open-air museum and explore the historical lifestyle, culture, and architecture of the Welsh people. The grounds also include a number of beautiful gardens, ponds and fountains and is also home to St Fagans Castle.

If you do stay with us, we have a booklet in each room with more information about the local area and staff will be happy to make recommendations for you to enjoy during your visit.

Dogs are welcome in all areas of the pub, including in all hotel rooms. If you wish to bring your dog to stay in the hotel we charge £20 per stay to cover the cost of the extra cleaning. We also offer Dog Packages which is an additional £20, and we will provide a dog bed & blanket, dog bowls and treats for your furry friend too.

We can call you a taxi or direct you to the nearest bus stop, train station or coach station.The Pontcanna is a 10-minute walk from the City Centre, which includes the Principality Stadium & historic Cardiff Castle.Cardiff train station is a 20-minute walk away.

Our site is accessible from the front and back. We have a staircase leading to the hotel rooms, unfortunately we do not have a lift. We also have a night entrance on the side of the building for our hotel guests to come in and out during our out of hours.

We have several bookable areas in our venue including the Green Room, Restaurant area, our Pavillion and back gardens. These areas are available for private functions. Please get in touch if you are planning an event and our team will be happy to help to talk you through the various options available. Our back garden also hosts a food truck and outside bar.
