Instead, settle in with family and friends and enjoy a festive feast featuring Crown of English turkey with all the trimmings, West Country aged sirloin of beef and plenty of seasonal favourites along the way.  From the first toast to the final spoonful of Christmas pudding, we’ll make sure your Christmas Day is one to remember.

A flawless Christmas party at the Pontcanna In

We swapped the City Centre this year and chose the Pontcanna Inn for our work Christmas party—and we weren’t disappointed. Becky looked after everything from start to finish, making pre‑ordering a breeze and even accommodating a couple of late changes when people dropped out. On the day, our seating plan was set up with place cards, so the team could settle straight in. Service was perfectly timed: starters arrived together, mains followed without a hitch, and every dish was beautifully presented and excellent quality. With the bar right behind us, top‑ups were easy and the atmosphere stayed lively. The location is ideal—about a 10‑minute walk from the City Centre—and the premises on Cathedral Road are stunning. We’d planned to head into town after the meal but ended up staying all afternoon, soaking up the festive vibe. Huge thanks to Becky and the team for a wonderful day.

Lunch was well organised with pleasing options shared in advance. Meal was huge, well cooked and delicious. Arrived hot with plenty of good veg and gravy. Can I book a Christmas party?

Absolutely. From office Christmas parties and festive feasts to Christmas catch-ups with friends and family, we have spaces for celebrations of all kinds. Choose from festive three-course dining, Christmas sharing boards and seasonal drinks, and let our team help you plan your Christmas party in Cardiff.

For all Christmas bookings we do require a £10 per person deposit and pre-order of food at least 14 days before your booking date.

Do you cater for work Christmas parties in Cardiff?

Yes. Pontcanna Inn is a great spot for office Christmas parties, whether you’re planning a sit-down festive meal, sharing boards and drinks, or a bigger celebration. With bookable spaces and plenty of festive atmosphere, we can help you find the right setup for your team.

For all Christmas bookings we do require a £10 per person deposit and pre-order of food at least 14 days before your booking date.

Can you accommodate large Christmas parties?

Yes. Our restaurant can host up to 70 guests seated or 150 standing, making it a great choice for larger Christmas parties in Cardiff. For smaller celebrations, our cosy Snug can accommodate up to 25 seated or 45 standing.

Our spaces are available Sunday to Friday (Friday lunchtime only), subject to live sport. Get in touch with our team and we’ll help you find the best space for your festive celebration.

What Christmas menus are available?

There’s plenty to choose from, including festive three-course dining and Christmas sharing boards, alongside seasonal cocktails, bubbles and festive drinks. We also have a dedicated Christmas Day menu for guests joining us on 25th December.

Do you cater for dietary requirements at Christmas?

Please let our team know about any allergies or dietary requirements when making your booking so we can talk you through the suitable options available on our festive menus.

When do I need to pre-order for my Christmas party?

For Christmas parties, we ask that all food pre-orders are completed at least 14 days before your booking, giving our team plenty of time to get everything ready for your celebration.

How early should I book for Christmas?

We recommend booking as early as possible, especially for popular December dates, larger parties and Christmas Day.

Christmas Day at Pontcanna

Can I book Christmas Day lunch?

Absolutely. Christmas Day dining must be booked in advance, with a deposit required to secure your table. Menu choices and full payment are due by 1st December, so all that’s left to do on the day is relax and enjoy Christmas

What is on the Christmas Day menu?

Our Christmas Day menu is made for a proper festive feast, with dishes including Crown of turkey with all the trimmings and West Country aged sirloin of beef, alongside seasonal favourites and Christmas pudding.

What time are you open on Christmas Day?

We’re open from 11am until 5pm on Christmas Day. Christmas Day dining must be booked in advance, so we recommend securing your table early.

Are you open on Christmas Eve and Boxing Day?

Can I stay at Pontcanna Inn over Christmas?

Absolutely. With 10 cosy bedrooms, you can make a night of your festive celebrations. Our December Sleepovers offer includes breakfast, £30 per person towards supper and a festive in-room treat or tipple, available on selected dates throughout December and subject to availability.

What is Pontcanna Peaks?

Pontcanna Peaks is our brand-new après-ski experience bringing the spirit of the mountains to Pontcanna this winter. Expect alpine-inspired surroundings, winter food and drinks and plenty of festive atmosphere – perfect for Christmas catch-ups, parties and celebrations.

Getting Here & Festive Opening Times

Is there parking at Pontcanna Inn?

We don’t have on-site parking, but Sophia Gardens Pay and Display Car Park is just a short walk away. The car park is operated by Cardiff Council, with payment available at the machine or via the MiPermit app.

Can I get to Pontcanna Inn by public transport?

Yes. Pontcanna Inn is on Cathedral Road, within easy reach of Cardiff city centre. There are several bus services along Cathedral Road connecting Pontcanna with the city centre, making it easy to join us for a Christmas party without the car.

If you’re travelling into Cardiff by train, Cardiff Central is the main city-centre station, with Pontcanna around a 20-minute walk from the city centre. From there, you can continue on foot, by bus or by taxi.
